HC Deb 25 June 1935 vol 303 c928
17. Mr. T. SMITH

asked the Secretary for Mines the position with regard to the inquiry of the Midland (Amalgamated) District Committee of Investigation into the alleged shortage of particular kinds of coal for export from the Humber ports?

Captain CROOKSHANK

I am informed that the committee met on the 5th June and recommended to the executive board administering the district (Coal Mines) scheme that, in order to remedy the difficulties occurring on the Humber, export supply quotas should be fixed quarterly and the export tonnage pool, under consideration in the district, should be put into operation as rapidly as possible. The matter will be considered at next Friday's meeting of the executive board and the Committee of Investigation will meet again on 4th July.
