asked the Secretary for Mines whether he has considered the communication relating to a burning pit heap at the Rose Bridge Colliery, Ince, near Wigan, which is a serious nuisance and menace to the health of the inhabitants in the vicinity; and what action the Mines Department are taking to remove or mitigate the existing nuisance?

I have been asked to reply. I have been in communication with the Ince-in-Makerfield Urban District Council in this matter, and have promised that a visit shall be paid by one of my inspectors as soon as opportunity occurs.
