HC Deb 05 June 1935 vol 302 c1855
48. Mr. NEIL MACLEAN

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, seeing that it is compulsory for motorists to insure against third-party risks, he will say when the Government will take the necessary steps to ensure that insurance companies inviting this class of business are in a sound financial condition to meet their obligations?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE(Dr. Burgin)

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given yesterday to the hon. and gallant Member for the Isle of Wight (Captain P. Macdonald).

Mr. GODFREY NICHOLSON

Can my hon. Friend say when the Department propose to revise the Assurance Companies Act, 1909?

Dr. BURGIN

That is another matter, which my hon. Friend had better put down as a separate question.
