§ The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister)I am not aware that any assistance has been asked for in addition to that mentioned in my reply to my hon. and gallant 'Friend's question of the 16th May.
§ Captain STRICKLANDWhat was the information which was in the possession of my right hon. Friend as to the proposals made at the time?
§ Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTERI had no information in my possession at the time. I said that any proposals for the extension of the scheme would be matters for the Palestine Government to consider in the first place at the request of the industry itself.
§ Captain STRICKLANDAre we to understand that no proposals have been made, at least within the knowledge of the right hon. Gentleman, by the citrus growers?
Sir P.CUNLIFFE-LISTERSpeaking from memory, I do not think I had any knowledge of any proposals. The High Commissioner may have known something.
