HC Deb 04 June 1935 vol 302 c1695
39. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his attention has been called to the assistance being given by British officers to the Iraq Government for the repression of the rebels; and whether such action is countenanced by His Majesty's Government?

Mr. EDEN

No, Sir; I am not aware that any officers in the service of His Majesty's Government rendered any assistance to the Iraqi Government in connection with the recent troubles in that country. The second part of the question does not therefore arise.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

I suppose it is understood that no one can act in that sense without the approval of the Home Government?

Mr. EDEN

That question should be put on the Paper, but I am sure that what has happened is as stated in my answer.
