asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the increase in the number of Customs officers

between 1931 and at the latest available date, and the estimated increase in salaries?

Mr. COOPER

The increase in the number of staff of the Department of Customs and Excise from 1st October, 1931, to 1st April, 1935, was 2,270. The increase in the cost per annum is estimated at approximately £445,000.
