Mr. SMEDLEY CROOKEasked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been drawn to a recent application from the Birmingham City Council for permission to build a further 4,000 houses to be let at a rental within the means of the lower-paid wage-earners; and whether, in view of the enormous demand for this class of house in the city of Birmingham, he will do what he can to accelerate the usual procedure of his Department, which will enable the city council to make an early start with this commendable building programme?
