HC Deb 25 July 1935 vol 304 cc2001-2
38. Mr. R. BEAUMONT (for Major HERBERT)

asked the Secretary of State for Air what are the regulations regarding the loading of commercial aeroplanes and by what means are such regulations enforced, especially in the case of the smaller aerodromes?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

The maximum total weight authorised for an air- craft is shown in its certificate of airworthiness, and the Air Navigation Order makes it obligatory for the person in charge of an aircraft to satisfy himself before commencing any flight that it is satisfactorily loaded for safety in flight. Non-compliance with the Order is liable to lead to prosecution. It is not practicable to institute a check by Government officials in each individual case.
