HC Deb 23 July 1935 vol 304 c1650
28. Mr. RHYS

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any information regarding the reported detention in Barcelona prison of Miss Edith May Court, of West Clandon, Surrey?

Mr. EDEN

Yes, Sir. Miss Court was arrested at Barcelona on a charge of insulting the Spanish Government. She was tried on 13th July and acquitted, but I learn from His Majesty's Consul-General at Barcelona that the Spanish authorities intend to expel her from Spain as an undesirable alien. His Majesty's Consul-General has been constantly in touch with the Spanish authorities with regard to this case and has rendered Miss Court all possible assistance.
