44. Miss WARDasked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been drawn to certain serious accidents to adults and children owing to the use of celluloid; and whether any steps can be taken to prevent such accidents in the future?
Captain WALLACEI presume my hon. Friend refers to accidents to members of the public from toys and other articles containing celluloid. Such accidents have occasionally been brought to the notice of my Department and the danger is widely known to exist; but I am afraid that so far as the Home Office is concerned nothing further can be done without legislation.
Miss WARDWhen the programme is a little less congested, will the Home Secretary consider the introduction of legislation to deal with this matter?
