HC Deb 18 July 1935 vol 304 c1198
14. Lieut.-Colonel Sir VIVIAN HENDERSON

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he proposes to set up the committee to advise what measures should be taken for the future co-ordination of fire brigades in case of national emergency, which his predecessor in office promised last March to appoint?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir John Simon)

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the reply given by my predecessor on the 5th June to a question by the hon. Member for Upton (Mr. Gardner). The delay in setting up this committee has been due to the fact that certain persons found themselves unable to accept invitations to serve on it, but I hope to be able to complete the constitution of the committee at an early date.
