HC Deb 16 July 1935 vol 304 cc869-70
5. Mr. DAVID GRENFELL

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has considered the report of the senior official receiver upon the position of James and Shakspeare, Limited; and whether, in view of the comments made upon the contents of the prospectus and the commitments of Williams, Henry and Company on 30th June, 1934, and 3rd September, 1934, he will authorise legal proceedings against the persons responsible for withholding such information from the public who were invited to subscribe to the issue on the latter date?

Sir A. LAMBERT WARD

I have been asked to reply. My right hon. Friend has seen the report to which the hon. Member refers. I understand that the official receiver is now considering whether there are grounds for making a further report under Section 182 (2) of the Companies Act, 1929.

Mr. GRENFELL

Will the hon. and gallant Member convey to the President of the Board of Trade the desire that this information should be communicated to the House, or will he inquire for my guidance whether I should put down another question?

Sir A. LAMBERT WARD

If the hon. Member will put down another question, I think he will get the information that he desires.
