HC Deb 15 July 1935 vol 304 c736
15. Sir BASIL PETO

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will consider making an order prohibiting the entry at British ports of cattle from Ireland, during the months of February to June, which carry the characteristic lumps of the warble fly maggot, in conjunction with regulations for compulsory dressing of all cattle during these months for warble fly in this country?

Mr. ELLIOT

I am not at present in a position to add to the replies I have given recently to question on this subject. As my hon. Friend is aware, the whole question of the control of the warble fly is now being carefully considered.

Sir B. PETO

May I take it that the right hon. Gentleman will consider the possible effect of negotiations on the lines indicated in my question in view of his determination to get the warble fly disease cleared out of this country?

Mr. ELLIOT

Yes, certainly.
