HC Deb 15 July 1935 vol 304 c738
18. Captain CUNNINGHAM - REID

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether in view of the doubts as to whether the statutory close times for different species of fish apply to purely private waters, he will introduce legislation to make the law clear on this point?

Mr. ELLIOT

I do not think there is need for the amending legislation suggested by my hon. and gallant Friend.

Captain CUNNINGHAM-REID

As the interests of many anglers, who are mostly of the working-class, are affected, does not the right hon. Gentleman think that the Government might take the course of bringing a test case?

Mr. ELLIOT

The provisions of the Act seem to be clear.
