HC Deb 11 July 1935 vol 304 c468
9. Mr. SIMMONDS

asked the Minister of Labour in what districts he has made provision for the housing of unemployed juveniles who have been transferred from depressed areas?

Mr. E. BROWN

Where necessary, suitable lodgings are always found by officers of the Department for juveniles transferred to employment from scheduled areas. As an experiment, and in view of the shortage of lodging accommodation in certain areas, four hostels for transferred boys are being established in London and one hostel for transferred girls in the Midlands Division.

Mr. GEORGE HALL

Will the right hon. Gentleman see that these hostels are under proper supervision?

Mr. BROWN

They are.

Viscountess ASTOR

Are they not very well supervised?
