HC Deb 11 July 1935 vol 304 c478
24. Sir A. KNOX

asked the Minister of Health whether in view of the many cases of hardship brought to light in the administration of Section 19 of the Housing Act, 1930, he will consider amending the law by the insertion of provisions authorising the payment of compensation to owners of property?

Sir K. WOOD

The Housing Bill now before Parliament contains proposals for mitigating the difficulties in the administration of the Act of 1930 which have been brought to light.

Sir A. KNOX

What about the cases which are now being dealt with by the local authorities throughout the country? Surely the right hon. Gentleman must know that a considerable amount of hardship is being caused to poor people by the operations of this Section of the Act?

Sir K. WOOD

This matter has been discussed several times.
