§ 40. Mr. McKEAGasked the Attorney-General whether, having regard to the large number of witnesses from all parts of the country who are called upon to appear in undefended divorce cases which on the average only occupy the time of the court for a few minutes, representations might be made to assize judges to indicate, not later than commission day, the date on which it is proposed to hear these cases?
§ The ATTORNEY-GENERAL (Sir Thomas Inskip)I have brought the hon. Member's suggestion to the notice of the Lord Chief Justice, and am informed that it is at present the practice of the Lord Chief Justice and His Majesty's judges to indicate where possible the date of hearing of these cases. I have no doubt that His Majesty's judges will do all they can to meet the convenience of witnesses in divorce cases.
