asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is prepared, as in the case of the London County Council, to apply the principles of equal pay to those Civil Service staffs whose functions and status correspond to those of the major establishment and inspectorate of the London County Council where, since December, 1920, equal pay for men and women has prevailed?

In view of the statement made by the hon. Gentleman in his speech the other day that it was the principle of the Government to keep abreast of the best employers in the matter of fair wages, does he not think this is a good time to put this statement into operation?
