HC Deb 08 July 1935 vol 304 cc87-8

6.44 p.m.

Mr. SHAKESPEARE

I beg to move, in page 9, line 36, after "person," to insert: or has been charged thereunder with such an offence and an order has been made under Sub-section (1) of Section one of the Probation of Offenders Act, 1907.

This also is a drafting Amendment.

Mr. RHYS DAVIES

I think we might have some explanation of this Amendment. I am beginning to wonder what the Probation of Offenders Act, 1907, has to do with National Health Insurance, and whether a man who offends against the regulations and the rules of his approved society is to be dealt with under these provisions.

Sir K. WOOD

These words are inserted so as to shorten proceedings, not only where an employer has been convicted, but where he has been bound over under the Probation of Offenders Act.

Amendment agreed to.

Clause, as amended, ordered to stand part of the Bill.
