§ 43. Mr. LAWSONasked the Secretary for Mines whether there has been any improvement in the matter of Sunday work in pits in Scotland?
Captain CROOKSHANKI am making inquiries, but I am afraid I shall have to ask for longer notice. If the hon. Member will put down his question again in a week's time I hope to be in a position to answer.
§ 44. Mr. DUNCAN GRAHAMasked the Secretary for Mines whether the report of the inspectors appointed to inquire into overtime working in the Scottish mines has been completed; and, if so, whether it is to be published, and when?
Captain CROOKSHANKThe answer to the first part of the question is "Yes." With regard to the second part, I hope that the report will be ready for presentation to Parliament, and publication, before the end of this month.
§ Mr. T. WILLIAMSWill these inspectors be permitted to make inquiries in all mining areas, or is it exclusively Scotland?
Captain CROOKSHANKThis was a special inquiry into Scotland. The inquiry has been completed. This is only a question of the publication of the report.
§ Mr. GRAHAMIs it not the case that the hon. and gallant Gentleman's predecessor indicated that the question is still open for consideration for inquiry in other districts?
Captain CROOKSHANKPerhaps the hon. Member and the House would like to see this report when it is published, and then we can discuss the matter further.
