HC Deb 27 February 1935 vol 298 cc1125-6
59. Miss CAZALET

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education when the examination by the Board of Education and other Departments on the question of the school-leaving age will be completed?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Ramsbotham)

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given by the Prime Minister to the hon. Member for Leigh (Mr. Tinker) on Monday last, to which I have nothing to add, except to assure my hon. Friend that both my Department and the Scottish Education Department are concerned to expedite this matter as far as is possible.

Miss CAZALET

Does the hon. Gentleman think that the examination will be completed by Easter; and is the whole question of continued education up to 18 years also being examined, as well as the actual question of the school-leaving age?

Mr. RAMSBOTHAM

I can state no definite time, but all relevant factors will be taken into consideration.
