HC Deb 21 February 1935 vol 298 cc525-6
59. Mrs. SHAW

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether any further appointments of women to the education inspectorate in Scotland have yet been made as a result of the decision that women shall be eligible, equally with men, for these posts?

Mr. SKELTON

The decision to which my hon. Friend refers took effect in April last. A vacancy in the grade of His Majesty's inspectors of schools has recently been filled by the appointment of a woman, and another post in that grade has been filled by promotion from the existing staff of inspectresses for domestic subjects. There are now four women in the grade of His Majesty's inspector, in addition to two inspectresses for domestic subjects.
