HC Deb 18 December 1935 vol 307 c1754
82. Sir NICHOLAS GRATTAN - DOYLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will inquire about the proposal, made on 8th October in the Brazilian Legislative Chamber, to aggravate the default imposed by the Brazilian Government upon British investors by substituting interest-bearing paper for the already reduced cash remittances; and will he examine means for setting up customs duties on Brazilian products imported into the United Kingdom competing with Dominion products until the Brazilian authorities discontinue ill-treatment of British savings?

Captain EUAN WALLACE (Secretary Department of Overseas Trade)

I have no information about the proposal referred to by my hon. Friend, but I will make inquiry.
