HC Deb 17 December 1935 vol 307 c1540
35. Mr. HALL-CAINE

asked the President of the Board of Trade the approximate proportion of Palestine orange exports to this country during the ensuing season to be carried in British vessels; and whether he is satisfied that all possible steps have been taken by the British shipping industry to secure such trade?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I am informed that approximately 37 per cent. of the exports of Palestine oranges to this country will be carried this season in British ships. I know that the British shipping companies concerned have made, and continue to make, great efforts to secure this trade.
