HC Deb 10 December 1935 vol 307 cc709-10
12. Captain PETER MACDONALD

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the examination of questions arising out of the Congo Basin Treaties has now been completed; and whether there is to be any change of policy in this connection?

Captain EUAN WALLACE

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the reply which I gave yesterday to my hon. Friend the Member for Bury (Mr. Chorlton).

Captain MACDONALD

Is it not a fact that during the last Session the President of the Board of Trade informed us that these treaties were under consideration, while an answer given yesterday stated that no action is to be taken?

Captain WALLACE

That shows that, as a result of the consideration, there is nothing doing.

Lieut.-Colonel SANDEMAN ALLEN

In the settlement of the Abyssinian dispute, which covers the boundaries in question, will these treaties be reviewed?

Captain WALLACE

I am sure that that will be borne in mind.
