§ Major TRYONThe matter is still under consideration. It has not yet been possible to find a suitable alternative site for a garage to house the motor vehicles which operate essential Post Office services in the East London district.
§ Mr. JANNERIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that I raised this question as early as December last; that a report has since been issued by the Medical Officer of Health for Stepney showing an appalling shortage of housing accommodation there, and that as many as 7,000 underground rooms are actually being used for living and sleeping purposes; and will he assure the House that he will take these matters into consideration and do something as speedily as possible to use the site for housing purposes?
