HC Deb 01 August 1935 vol 304 c2838
25. Miss CAZALET

asked the President of the Board of Education the estimated number of elementary school children in London who go away annually for a holiday, whether assisted through the schools or through private organisations?

Mr. STANLEY

I am informed by the London local education authority that the annual number of public elementary school children who are assisted to obtain a holiday is approximately 48,000. In addition, some 14,000 children are sent away annually on school journeys to the country or seaside for periods of seven days or more.
