asked the First Lord of the Admiralty how many sergeant pilots of the Royal Air Force are attached to the Fleet Air Arm; and how many petty-officer pilots there are in His Majesty's Navy?

There are five sergeant pilots at present attached to the Fleet Air Arm. The constitution of the Fleet Air Arm does not admit of the employment of petty officers or other naval ratings' as pilots.

May I ask whether this is in accordance with the desires of the Admiralty or in accordance with the orders of the Air Council?
