HC Deb 15 April 1935 vol 300 cc1580-1
5. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs who will represent His Majesty's Government at the forthcoming meeting of the League of Nations Council; and whether any instructions have been given to His Majesty's representative on the question of assistance to refugees from the Saar?

The LORD PRESIDENT of the COUNCIL(Mr. Baldwin)

My right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary will represent His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom at the meeting of the Council of the League of Nations, which takes place at Geneva to-day. The question of assistance to refugees from the Saar is not on the agenda of this meeting, and the second part of the hon. Member's question does not, therefore, arise.

Mr. DAVIES

Will His Majesty's Government bear in mind the very tragic position of some of these refugees?

Mr. BALDWIN

Yes, but that does not arise at Geneva in the business of this meeting.
