Mr. CHORLTONasked the Minister of Health if he will, in the near future, address a letter to the authorities in the South Lancashire and adjoining districts industrial area, calling them to a conference with the object of considering the formation of a regional planning council to advise on the better co-ordinated working of all the public utilities of the area?
§ Mr. SHAKESPEAREIn view of the arrangements made by the Manchester and District Joint Town Planning Committee, which was communicated to my hon. Friend in reply to his question of 14th February last, my right hon. Friend does not as at present advised see any ground for intervention of this kind on his part.
§ Mr. CHORLTONIf no progress is made with this correlation of districts, will my hon. Friend see that something is done in the way of writing a letter of that kind later on?.
§ Mr. SHAKESPEAREI think we must wait and see, and let this committee come to a conclusion before we can go on any further.
