HC Deb 02 April 1935 vol 300 cc190-1
52. Mr. WHITE

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether it is anticipated that any loss will fall upon the Treasury as a result of the liquidation of the White Star Line; and, if so, to what extent?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Duff Cooper)

No, Sir. The White Star Line, Limited, have not borrowed any money under Treasury guarantee. The loans of that character raised by the subsidiary company, namely, the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company, are not affected by the liquidation to which the question refers.
