HC Deb 01 April 1935 vol 300 c14
23. Sir FRANCIS FREMANTLE

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is yet in a position to state what action he proposes to take to accelerate the revision of the Ordnance Survey maps which are, in many cases, much out of date and a cause of inconvenience and delay to local authorities responsible for the preparation of schemes for town and country planning?

Mr. ELLIOT

A substantial addition has been made to the Ordnance Survey Estimates for 1935, and this will enable a beginning to be made in the way of overtaking arrears. I propose, however, to refer to a departmental committee the whole question of the acceleration of the revision of Ordnance Survey maps and the preparation of plans for town and country planning. I hope shortly to be able to announce the composition of the committee and its terms of reference.

Mr. JAMES DUNCAN

Will it be an inter-departmental committee, or a small departmental committee of the Ministry of Agriculture?

Mr. ELLIOT

A departmental committee.
