HC Deb 31 October 1934 vol 293 c185
17. Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether facts before him are sufficient to show that the Anglo-Russian Trade Agreement is being faithfully carried out on both sides?

Lieut.-Colonel J. COLVILLE (Secretary, Overseas Trade Department)

From the information available I see no reason to doubt that the ratio of payments called for in the agreement will be realised.

Mr. LOFTUS

Is the hon. and gallant Member aware that Russia to-day is selling to this country more than ten times the value of fish which she is buying from this country, and will he not make representations to redress this disproportion?

Lieut.-Colonel COLVILLE

The aspect of the trade of which the hon. Member is thinking is the canned salmon trade, which is not entirely a Russian interest.
