HC Deb 30 October 1934 vol 293 c16
27. Mr. LUNN

asked the Minister of Labour whether the Government have any schemes in hand for the relief of the unemployed during the coming winter?

Mr. STANLEY

As has been stated on many occasions the general policy of the Government is directed to restoring industrial activity as the only effectual method of reducing unemployment. As regards special measures for relieving the situation in the depressed areas I would ask the hon. Member to await the replies to be given to later questions on the paper which have been addressed to the Prime Minister.
