HC Deb 27 November 1934 vol 295 c648
7. Mr. GRAHAM WHITE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will make a statement on the progress made in the reorganisation of the iron and steel industry?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

A few months ago the industry adopted a scheme for a new central organisation, entitled the British Iron and Steel Federation. A further important step, which the hon. Member has no doubt seen announced in the Press, is the recent appointment by the Federation of Sir Andrew Duncan as independent chairman of its executive committee. Some particulars of the proposed organisation can be found in Cmd. 4589.
