HC Deb 14 November 1934 vol 293 c1965
60. Sir W. SMILES

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that 98 per cent. of the ratepayers of Walmer have voted against the amalgamation of Deal and Walmer; and will he give an assurance that, in view of this adverse vote, no Government inquiry will be held or other steps taken about this proposal?

Sir H, YOUNG

I have been informed of the result of the poll of the ratepayers of Walmer. The inquiry into the question of the amalagamation of Deal and Walmer was held last month and the Inspector's report is now under consideration. My hon. and gallant Friend can rest assured that all the facts and representations will be very carefully examined before a decision is reached.
