HC Deb 14 November 1934 vol 293 c1951
35. Mr. WHITESIDE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he is precluded by the existing agreement between His Majesty's Government and Imperial Airways from sending mail by other British aircraft operating companies to foreign and Empire countries?

The ASSISTANT POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Sir Ernest Bennett)

The existing agreements between His Majesty's Government and Imperial Airways do not specifically preclude the sending of mail by other air lines, but the policy of the Government, generally speaking, is to utilise the services of Imperial Airways for the carriage of mails to Empire countries so far as is reasonable and practicable.
