HC Deb 12 November 1934 vol 293 cc1524-5
Sir W. DAVISON

In the event of the Motion on the Paper being carried, can the Prime Minister tell us how far he proposes to go to-night, and what is the object of the suspension of the 11 o'clock Rule? At any rate, I suppose we can be assured that the Third Reading of the Betting and Lotteries Bill will not be taken to-night?

The PRIME MINISTER

If we are fortunate enough to conclude the Report stage, we should not take the Third Reading of the Bill. I cannot say how far it is proposed to go, except that I hope we shall make satisfactory progress.

Motion made, and Question put, That the Proceedings on Government Business be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)."—[The Prime Minister.]

The House divided: Ayes, 212; Noes, 29.
