HC Deb 08 November 1934 vol 293 cc1258-9
4. Sir JOHN PYBUS

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that at Brightlingsea, Essex, about 80 men, having formed part of the regular crews of yachts all the season and paid their contributions towards unemployment insurance, have been refused unemployment benefit, and are driven to seek aid from the public assistance committee and various charitable funds; and will he take steps for the ruling regarding this class of worker to be restored to its original form, by which these men were entitled to unemployment benefit?

Mr. STANLEY

I am having inquiries made and will communicate with my hon. Friend as soon as possible.
