HC Deb 08 November 1934 vol 293 cc1249-50
8. Brigadier-General NATION

asked the Home Secretary what progress has been made in regard to a general scheme for the rovision of better section houses for the Metropolitan police?

Sir J. GILMOUR

As I informed the hon. and gallant Member in reply to his question on 5th July last, the provision of four new section houses has been approved by me. The plans of these are being prepared with all possible speed and it is hoped to commence building operations in the early part of next year. The general building programme to which I referred in the same reply has been drawn up. It is under consideration and is at present only in a provisional stage but I may say that it provides for the building of over 20 other new section houses and for the enlargement and modernisation of about the same number of existing ones.
