§ Mr. ORMSBY-GOREI have consulted my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. I understand that the soya bean has been under experiment for several years in this country, and it appears to be demonstrated that the plant will come to maturity in a favourable season. Further experimental work is, however, necessary before the crop generally could he regarded as one to be safely commended to English farmers. In any case, however, I am satisfied that Hyde Park would be on every ground a most unsuitable site for either research or demonstration of a farmers' crop.
