HC Deb 07 November 1934 vol 293 cc1010-1
9. Sir PERCY HURD

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that the Spanish customs authorities in Morocco are making a charge upon the personal luggage of British passengers in transit through the Spanish zone from the interior to the international port of Tangier; and whether he will state under what authority such a customs charge is made?

Sir J. SIMON

No, Sir; I have received no information on this subject. If my hon. Friend will furnish me with particulars, I will cause enquiries to be made.

Sir P. HURD

Does the right hon. Gentleman know whether there is any authority for such a customs charge?

Sir J. SIMON

I think, if it be convenient to my hon. Friend, it would be better that I should have the information. A great deal depends, of course, on the kind of charge it is. One must see the details before one can answer with authority.
