§ 39. Mr. PARKINSONasked the Minister of Health the number of applications for grants for rural water schemes; the amount allocated; and the number of schemes still awaiting approval?
Sir H. YOUNGApplications for grants have been received from 210 rural district councils, for 1,189 parishes, and from 12 urban district councils, in respect of schemes estimated to cost £3,270,000. Grants totalling £295,000 have been provisionally allocated in respect of schemes for 712 parishes estimated to cost £2,013,000. Schemes in respect of 219 parishes estimated to cost £621,000 are under consideration.
Sir H. YOUNGYes, Sir, I think the very rapid progress which is being made shows how great is the utility of this grant.
