§ Sir J. GILMOURStatistics are collected for the calendar year and to obtain separate figures for the past 12 months would necessitate calling for a special return. The Return of Offences relating to Motor Vehicles, which was presented to Parliament on 14th May last shows that during 1933 there were 12,486 convictions for failure to insure against third-party risks and that in a further 2,451 cases the court found the charge proved but disposed of it under the Probation of Offenders Act without proceeding to conviction.
