HC Deb 30 May 1934 vol 290 c166
23. Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Minister of Labour whether the Government are yet in a position to make a further announcement with regard to the relief of the derelict areas?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of LABOUR (Mr. R. S. Hudson)

No Sir, not yet.

Mr. BATEY

When does the Parliamentary Secretary expect to be in a position to make a statement; and is it the intention of the Government to hurry up the commissioners' reports, so that the House can debate the matter before the Summer Recess?

Mr. HUDSON

The reports have not yet been received, and it is obviously undesirable that the investigation should be unduly hurried.

Mr. BATEY

Can the hon. Gentleman say when it is expected that the reports will be received, so that we can debate them?

Mr. HUDSON

When the investigation is completed.
