49. Captain A. EVANSasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is now in a position to state the policy of His Majesty's Government in relation to the debt payments due to the United States of America on the 15th June next?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI am not yet in a position to make a statement on this subject, but I hope to do so shortly.
§ 54. Colonel WEDGWOODasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has considered the proposal put before 29 him by the right hon. Member for New-castle-under-Lyme as to a method of paying the debt owed to America?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI have considered the proposal submitted to me by the right hon. Member for Newcastle-under-Lyme (Colonel Wedgwood), but the disadvantages of the scheme do not appear to me to be counterbalanced by any corresponding advantages.
