HC Deb 16 May 1934 vol 289 c1755
37. Mr. HALES

asked the Postmaster-General what loss in revenue has taken place since the doubling of the charges for daily letter telegrams and the abolition of the weekly letter telegrams between England and India; and, having regard to the inconvenience to the mercantile community caused thereby, if he will take steps to restore at an early date the facilities previously existing between the two countries?

Sir E. BENNETT

The telegraph service with India is conducted by a telegraph company and not by the Post Office. I am, however, making inquiry of the company concerned, and I will communicate with my hon. Friend as soon as I receive their reply.
