HC Deb 16 May 1934 vol 289 c1753
31. Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND-TROYTE

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the report of the Kent county analyst on the nutritive qualities of imported and home-killed meat; and whether he will bring this report to the notice of any local authorities who do not supply home-killed meat in their institutions?

Sir H. YOUNG

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. A circular has already been issued by my Department to local authorities urging them to make use, to the utmost extent practicable, of goods of home production.

Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND - TROYTE

Does not this report show the great superiority of home-killed meat; and will my right hon. Friend bring it to the notice of the First Lord of the Admiralty and the Secretary of State for War?

Mr. RHYS DAVIES

Can the Minister say whether there have been any favourable results, in consequence of the circular sent out to the local authorities?

Sir H. YOUNG

I have no doubt the circular will serve the purpose of bringing this matter to the attention of local authorities.
