asked the First Lord of the Admiralty when tenders will be invited from shipbuilders, etc., for the 1934–35 naval programme?

It is anticipated that the issue of invitations to tender for the vessels of this programme will in the main be spread over the period August to December next.

Would my Noble Friend bear in mind that acceleration of the placing of these orders would be of great benefit to the shipbuilders and shipyard workers?

Lord STANLEY

We can only place the orders as we are granted money for that purpose, but all the orders will be placed before the end of the financial year.
