HC Deb 10 May 1934 vol 289 c1229
3. Mr. LAWSON

asked the Minister of Labour if he will issue regulations that, where a person has been unemployed and is successful in obtaining work but is unable to accept the work owing to the fact that he has not the means to travel, he will make a grant to such individuals?

Mr. HUDSON

Facilities are available at Employment Exchanges for advancing the cost of travelling to employment at a distance, on certain conditions and subject to repayment of the whole or proportion of the cost. If these provisions do not meet the necessities of the cases the hon. Member has in mind, I shall be glad to consider them if he will send me particulars.
